Pediatric Care, Non-invasive needling

Shonishin (children's needle therapy) is a style of acupuncture that recognises the fact that children do not like being needled. This therapy has developed specialised treatment techniques, many of which are non-invasive and thus not frightening to the child. Children might find it quite comfortable and even pleasurable.

Shonishin  techniques involve rhythmic stroking, rubbing, tapping, and pressing the skin to give different kinds of gentle stimulation. Shonishin can help with weak constitution, colic, night crying, temper tantrums, rashes, neurological disorders, digestive disorders, bedwetting and other conditions.

The basic treatment has the added advantage of being easily taught to parents so that they can use it regularly at home, thus increasing frequency of treatment and allowing parents to participate actively in the treatment of their children.
